Nimbuzz Unveils New MoIP and IM ApplicationNimbuzz, the MoIP (mobile VoIP
Nimbuzz mobile VoIP application works on Internet-enabled mobile phones with Java, including BlackBerry (News - Alert), and Nokia S60 phones. It also offers "hybrid-VoIP" solution (as used by Skype), which allows users to make international mobile calls at local dial-in cost.
Launched on May 15, this new function allows mobile users and online communities to make free mobile VoIP calling, conference calling, instant messaging, chat and group chat, and photo and file sending across multiple IM communities, including Skype, MSN, Google (News - Alert) Talk, Yahoo!, AIM, Jabber and ICQ, plus 23 social networks, including Facebook and Myspace.
Tariq Dag Khan, the London-based chief marketing officer for Nimbuzz explained, "Once the users download the Nimbuzz application for mobile and registers as a new user, contacts from their selected IM communities are aggregated into a single contact list. It also displays icons indicating real-time "presence" such as, which contacts are online or offline, and from which communities," added Khan.
“Everyone loves Skype (News - Alert) (on the PC). But when it comes to the mobile, we believe we offer a better solution. Nimbuzz works across all the major communities and on more than 500 handsets worldwide. With this new release, we now also have a genuine free mobile VoIP solution that works on more than 90 handsets including Nokia (News - Alert), Samsung and LG,” added Khan.
This free to download mobile VoIP application operates worldwide on Nokia Symbian (News - Alert) Series 60 devices when connected using a 3G
Nimbuzz is a big win for consumers and network operators, according to Khan. He also stated that the company is currently in the process of building some important relationships with operators and strategic partners across Europe, and now have initiated this application for Indian customers.
As far as technology is concerned, Khan commented that the Nimbuzz application is developed internally, but GIPS and voxbone are some key components that have also been included. It features free phonebook backup and restoring data with free buzz notifications. Also included are features such as Web calling, conference calling, IM, group chat, and chat rooms. The application gives mobile operators a way to sell data plans, and to reduce costs, increasing Average Revenue per User (ARPU). Nimbuzz brings voice and mobile chat to the social networking front as well. The new six-button communicator widget brings free calling, chat, text, and voice messaging, and personal websites or blogs. There are more than 30 download access points for Nimbuzz. This VoIP solution has already brought in more than 500,000 registered users, with 25 percent active per month. In addition, it has generated more than 1 million logins per week.
