AIRCOM International Appoints Marty Smuin as New President of the AmericasAIRCOM (News - Alert) International, an independent mobile network planning and optimization consultancy, has appointed Marty Smuin as president of the Americas. Smuin has more than 18 years of management experience in sales, marketing and business development in the wireless communications, storage management and application software, media, and cable industries.
In his new role, Smuin will lead all of AIRCOM’s business development activities in the region including business development, consulting services and OSS product development.
Margaret Rice-Jones, CEO of AIRCOM International, said Smuin’s experience in the wireless telecommunications industry will bring a great wealth of knowledge that will drive AIRCOM’s growth in North America.
Based in Dallas, Texas, Smuin has also served as vice president and general manager of the Americas for Bytemobile (News - Alert), and vice president of GSM and Latin America at Openwave Systems, where he built sales teams that served a customer base of mobile network operators in North and South America.
Smuin was also the vice president of sales and marketing at ACCESS Systems. At this company, he successfully developed strategic account and channel relationships with operators, infrastructure providers and handset manufacturers for the deployment of ACCESS mobile Web browsers and server products across the globe.
AIRCOM specializes in end-to-end network planning, sharing, outsourcing and OSS optimization for IP and cellular networks. In July, the company was selected by O2 in the UK to supply ASSET, a radio network planning and optimization tool, from AIRCOM’s ENTERPRISE tool suite.
Deployed by more than 175 customers worldwide, ASSET works across multiple technology mobile networks — including WiMAX (News - Alert), HSDPA, 2, 2.5 and 3G - and features both static and dynamic simulators.
